TEHRAN – Iranian President Masudo Pezeshkian held a series of high-level meetings with regional leaders in Qatar’s capital on Monday, urging Muslim nations to establish a united front to stop the ongoing crimes of the Israeli regime.
Pezeshkian is in Doha to participate in an extraordinary summit of the Islamic Cooperative Organization (OIC) and the Arab Federation.
Meeting with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia
As part of his visit, Pezeshkian met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Although details of their speech were not immediately revealed, the conference was considered important given the efforts of both Tehran and Riyadh to improve relations after years of regional rivalry.
Talk to the Chief of Qatar
The Iranian president also spoke with Qatar Emil Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani.
Qatar has maintained close coordination with Iran for regional development and has played an active role in mediating crisis throughout the region.
Meet with the Iraqi Prime Minister
As part of his official involvement in Doha, Pezeshkian met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Sia’ Al Sudani. The two leaders emphasized that Islamic countries will adopt a common stance, take practical steps to take and stop what they described as a systematic crime of the Israeli regime.
“I am always happy to see you as a brother of faith who shares a common history and culture,” Pezeschkian said at the meeting. “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to expand cooperation, expand bilateral relations and stimulate Iraq’s shared capabilities in all areas for the people of our two countries and regions.”
The Iranian president also emphasized that Israel cannot continue crime without the support of the US and certain European governments. “From the election campaign until today, I have consistently declared the pursuit of unity and unity throughout my country and the Islamic world,” he added. “I firmly believe that strengthening Islamic solidarity is the most effective way to counter the criminal policy of the Zionist regime.”
Bystanders’ bilateral diplomacy
Pezeshkian also held separate meetings with Lebanon President Joseph Oun and Tajik President Emomali Ramon to reaffirm Tehran’s commitment to strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation.
The Doha Summit has started to put pressure on Muslim leaders to collectively respond to the deepening of the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s ongoing military campaign. On September 9, Israeli fighters attacked Hamas office in Doha and met to target senior members of the Palestinian resistance movement to discuss a new American-mediated ceasefire proposal in Gaza. The strike killed five Hamas officials, Qatari guards and several civilians. Hamas later confirmed that the senior negotiators had survived.
