Tehran – Iranian delegation will take part in the 4th International Communications and Information Technology Exhibition and Conference (ITEX), which is scheduled to be held in Baghdad, Iraq from September 25th to 28th.
According to the IRNA, knowledge-based companies will showcase the capabilities of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, with the vice president of knowledge-based economy supporting science and knowledge-based economy.
ITEX Iraq is a platform that brings together workers and experts in the ICT sector. It aims to showcase the possibilities of the ICT sector, identify integrated models that overcome challenges, and ultimately enhance the digital services of citizens and the country. It focuses on telecommunications, information technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital solutions.
Iran and Iraq are discussing strengthening technical relations
In July, ICT Minister Sattar Hashemi and Tehran’s Iraq ambassador Nasser Abdul Mohsen Abdullah discussed ways to expand technical cooperation between the two countries.
At a meeting held in Tehran, Hashemy detailed the ICT Ministry’s strategic plan aimed at promoting technical diplomacy. The official highlighted the need to utilize Iran’s infrastructure to utilize the capabilities of both countries as links to international transport routes, Mehr News Agency reported.
Hashemmi said the private sector in Iran and Iraq can work together in the areas mentioned, referring to the capabilities of knowledge-based companies and the growth of the domestic digital economy.
Abdullah, on his part, called for the promotion of collaboration and emphasized the constructive efforts to strengthen relationships. Iraqi officials said the two countries could expand cooperation on cybersecurity and the digital economy.
In January, Hashemi and Abdulla explored avenues to support the cooperation of the ICT sector, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), and e-government.

Emphasizing the strengthened cooperation between the two countries, the official said, “Trade between Iraq and Iran should reach $20 billion each year, with some of which to allocate to information and communications technology.”
Hashemi said “the transfer of expertise to Iraq is one of the main axis of cooperation between the two countries,” highlighting previous cooperation in cybersecurity and e-government. Iran also plans to leverage artificial intelligence capabilities, and we welcome cooperation in the region. ”
Officials have proposed co-investment in the development of international transport, marine fibers and Iran’s big data centres as potential axis for other collaborations.
Hashemi also said the provision of high-speed communications networks for Arbaeen Pilgrimage should be on the agenda.
