The Iranian convoy will set sail for Gaza on Wednesday and join the global SUMUD Flotilla, a private mission dedicated to providing important humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.
“Dozens of boats and ships are gathering in Gaza starting from various points around the world. Iran is currently an individual from 45 countries on this mission,” he said, a member of the Iranian convoy and one of its first supporters of the cause.
Hujjat al-Islam Vafi began his journey from Palestinian Square in Tehran. The fleet crossed a considerable distance and passed QOM, Esfahan, Khuzestan and Bushehr in central Iran. By Tuesday night, dozens of vehicles had arrived in Hormozgan, where Hujjat al-Islam Vafi was hoping for more additions to the mission. By Wednesday evening, the convoy is scheduled to navigate Iran’s southern waters and head to Gaza.
“We asked the Iranian people to pray for us. We hope that we can ultimately break this child-killing regime siege,” added Hujjat al-Islam Vafi.
Sumud Flotilla has been welcomed as the broadest maritime mission in decades. On Tuesday, the ship converged in Italy was located about 715 nautical miles from Gaza.
Israel has a history of intercepting ships, confiscating them and expelling them on their way to Gaza.
Just like in May this year, the ship’s conscience was targeted by armed drones just 14 nautical miles from the Malta coast, resulting in a fire that caused the ship to sink. In June, Madreen intercepted a 100 nautical miles from Gaza, within international waters.
A diverse group of people, including participants, organizers, aid workers, doctors, artists, religious figures, lawyers and experienced seafarers are united by a shared commitment to human dignity, a belief in the effectiveness of peaceful resistance, and by bringing the end of the siege and Israeli genocide.
