Tehran – The first anniversary of Hezbollah Secretary-General Syed Hassan Nasrara is commemorated throughout Iran and Lebanon, highlighting the lasting impact of the iconic resistance leader.
In Iran, the Council on Islamic Development Organizations announced that the ceremony will be held nationwide on Thursday, October 2nd. The main gathering in Tehran is scheduled for 4pm in Imam Hussein Square.
In its statement, the Council described Said Hassannasrara as “a historic and exceptional leader of the Front of Resistance.” Through more than 30 years of strategic guidance and rare courage, he “challenged the dominant foundations of the world order and ultimately achieved his long-standing martial aspirations.”
The council further emphasized that the Israeli regime believed that it could break resistance by escalating violence and physically eliminating its leader. Instead, “his martial teaching has opened up a new stage of vitality and strength for resistance and has become a spiritual asset that ensures the continuation of that path with even greater determination.”
On September 27th, tens of thousands of Lebanese paid tribute to Beirut, the Bekaa Valley and the southern cities of Lebanon, looking back at the legacy of Nasrara and other resistance leaders and commanders. The rally was addressed by Hezbollah Vice-Chancellor Sheikh Naim Qassem. Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, also attended the event.
The observers described the anniversary as a multinational event, combining deep general sentiment with political and regional importance.
Said Hassannasrara, widely regarded as one of the most influential Arab leaders in West Asia, was killed at the age of 64 in a series of Israeli airstrikes in South Beirut on September 27, 2024.
