Tehran – Iran is one of the top 10 countries in terms of diversity in programs held to mark World Space Week.
“Last year, Iran ranked third. This success was achieved in collaboration with research centres, laboratories and knowledge bases that help document events,” Isna said, citing Morteza Nik-Khoo.
Observed from October 4th to 10th, this week will help build tomorrow’s workforce by inspiring students. Shows visible public support for the space program. Educate the public about space activities. It promotes international cooperation in space outreach and education.
The most important goal of World Space Week is to educate people around the world about the benefits of space exploitation, promote the use of space for sustainable economic development, attract public support for space programs, and encourage children to learn science.
Other goals of World Space Week include promoting the establishment of space-related institutions in various regions of the world and strengthening international cooperation in areas that are always at the forefront of Iranian space organizations’ programmes.
Each year, the theme is chosen by the World Space Society’s board of directors in close cooperation with the United Nations Space Administration office. This theme provides extensive guidance to World Space Week participants on the content of the program. This theme is chosen to further enhance the global Space Week impact on all humanity by using a globally uniform theme.
For World Space Week in 2025, the chosen theme is “Life in Space.” The theme explores the human journey to make space a habitat and highlights the innovative technologies, challenges and collaborations that make this vision a reality.
Event organizers around the world recommend that you integrate “Life in Space” into World Space Week events. Activities aim to promote innovative environmental solutions, from educational workshops and interactive sessions to panel discussions and collaborative projects.
The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1999 that World Space Week will be held every year from October 4th to 10th. These dates commemorate the two events. October 4, 1957: Sputnik 1’s first human-built Earth satellite launches, paving the way for space exploration
October 10, 1967: Signing the Convention on Principles Controlling the Activities of States in Exploration and Peaceful Use of Space, including the Moon and other Celestial bodies.
Iran’s space agency is celebrating the event to raise public awareness by hosting a variety of scientific and educational programs for different age groups. The day of the week was named as follows:
Saturday, October 4th, “Living in Space”
Sunday, October 5th, “Space Habitat, Engineering and Design”
Monday, October 6th, “Space Climate and Space Radiation”
Tuesday, October 7th, “Moon, Space Travel Station”
Wednesday, October 8th, “Space Agriculture and Mining”
Thursday, October 9th, “Space Station Life Support System”

Last year, Isfahan, Yazd, Fars, Khorasan Razavi, East Azarbaijan province, and Iran Space Research Institute, Iran Space Research Institute, specialized space companies, universities, universities, training, research centres, private companies and knowledge bases made the best contribution to retain the programme.
