TEHRAN – The Ministry of Health on Saturday launched a week-long national oral and dental campaign in primary schools to raise awareness about the fundamental role of oral and dental health in overall health.
Other organizations such as local governments, the Ministry of Education, the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation, and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) will also work together to instill good oral health care habits in children, IRNA reported.
The campaign’s theme is “Don’t forget to brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day.”
It also aims to encourage children to floss their teeth once a day, eat a healthy diet with less sugar and visit the dentist regularly. The campaign also emphasizes the importance of permanent teeth, which begin to emerge at the age of six.
World Oral Health Day (WHOHD) is celebrated on March 20 each year with the aim of providing people with the tools and knowledge to prevent and manage oral diseases, which affect approximately 3.5 billion people worldwide.
Encourage people to take care of their oral health by developing good oral hygiene habits and managing risk factors.
The 2025 campaign theme, “A happy mouth is a happy heart,” highlights the important connection between oral health and mental health.
