TEHRAN – A high-level conference entitled “International Law under Attack, Invasion and Defense” is scheduled to be held on Sunday, November 16 at the Institute of Political and International Studies (IPIS), the research arm of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to address the gathering, which will also be attended by senior political officials, academics, policy experts and representatives from major international think tanks.
The event is expected to be attended by around 350 participants from Iran and abroad, including diplomatic missions, academics and analysts from France, Italy, Greece, Lebanon, Iraq, Ireland, Slovakia, the United Kingdom, Finland, Russia and several countries in the region, organizers said.
The one-day conference will feature four expert panels that will consider a range of issues, including June’s Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran, new threats to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and the evolving regional security framework.
The discussion takes place against the backdrop of the June escalation that began on June 13, when the Israeli regime launched unprovoked attacks on Iranian territory, attacking military, nuclear and residential facilities for almost two weeks. The United States entered the conflict on June 22, conducting airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan.
In retaliation, Iranian forces fired a barrage of missiles at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest US military installation in West Asia.
The fighting ceased on June 24, following the armistice.
