TEHRAN – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on Tuesday condemned the Israeli regime’s “aggressive hand” in the region and called for decisive action to stop Tel Aviv’s ongoing “transnational crime” policy.
Speaking to lawmakers, Mr. Khalibaf accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of indiscriminately targeting cities and populations across West Asia. “For them, there is no distinction between Tehran, Beirut, Doha, Islamabad, Khartoum and Istanbul,” he said.
His comments followed a series of Israeli military attacks in Lebanon, including an airstrike on a residential apartment building in Beirut’s southern suburbs that killed Haytham Ali Tabatabai, a senior commander in the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, and four other members of the group.
Khalibaf stressed that despite Israel’s repeated attempts to destabilize the region, Hezbollah remains “strong and steadfast” and moving forward with its mission. He described Israel as an enemy “devoid of human values,” acting outside the constraints of international law and ignoring agreements.
“Only courage and strength can stop this enemy,” Khalibaf said, stressing that preventing continued Israeli aggression is essential to restoring stability in the region. He expressed confidence that resistance movements across the region would respond to Tel Aviv’s provocations in a “coordinated and prudent” manner.
“This situation cannot continue. Patience has limits,” he warned, adding that the resistance will “act carefully and decisively… We are not seeking war, but we will fight effectively.”
Mr. Khalibaf also criticized world powers and international organizations for testifying against Israel’s “atrocities” without taking meaningful action to stop them.
