Majid Takhqt Ravanshi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, said that Iran and Tajikistan enjoy strong ties of friendship rooted in deep cultural and historical commonalities, and both sides are determined to build common ground and further strengthen mutual relations.
Takht Ravanshi made the remarks on Wednesday after returning to Tehran after a two-day visit to Tajikistan and meeting senior officials for talks aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Takut Ravanshi and his delegation arrived in Dushanbe on Monday. Officials from Iran and Tajikistan held the third round of political consultations between the two countries and discussed a number of issues regarding bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, commercial, cultural, scientific and research fields, as well as the latest developments at the regional and international levels.
According to Takut Ravanshi’s X post, both sides expressed satisfaction with the development trend of bilateral relations, considered plans for expanded cooperation, and emphasized the need to further strengthen ties. The diplomat also met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Shirojiddin Mukhridin, on Tuesday.
Iran and Tajikistan are strengthening cooperation in various fields. Relations have grown even closer since President Massoud Pezeshkian visited Dushanbe earlier this year. This is the third such visit in recent years, following two by his predecessor, the late Ebrahim Raisi, in 2022 and 2024.
