TEHRAN – The Revolutionary Guards Navy announced Tuesday that a large-scale military exercise, codenamed “Eghtedar” (Power), will begin in several key sea areas starting Wednesday.
The two-day exercise will take place in the Persian Gulf, on the three islands of Greater Tunbu, Lesser Tunbu and Bumsa, in the Strait of Hormuz and in the Sea of Oman, according to a statement released by the force’s public relations office.
The Exedal exercise is being held in memory of Commander Mohammad Nazeri, a naval officer of the Revolutionary Guards who died in the line of duty. The exercise will include a series of naval operations and coordinated exercises aimed at demonstrating the readiness and operational capabilities of the Revolutionary Guards Navy in strategic waterways.
The announcement coincided with another major military event currently underway in Iran. The Revolutionary Guards Ground Forces is hosting the Sahand-2025 Joint Counter-Terrorism Exercise, a multilateral exercise involving Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states. The exercise focuses on counterterrorism coordination, joint operational planning, and joint military readiness.
Most SCO member states have already deployed troops and begun participating in the Sahand 2025 series of operations in northwestern Iran. The joint exercise is part of broader regional security cooperation within the SCO framework and is scheduled to conclude on December 5th.
