Tehran – Iran’s National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (Nigeb) and Peshawar University, the top public university in Pakistan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Expand Scientific Cooperation.
MOU also includes swapping professors and students and implementing joint science projects, reported Mehr News Agency.
On Tuesday, a Pakistani delegation led by Ali Muhammad, president of Peshawar University, visited Nigev. They praised the institute’s scientific, research advancements and laboratory infrastructure as prominent.
During the meeting, Muhammad said Peshawar University has long provided education in a variety of fields, including chemistry, plant protection and agriculture, botany, veterinary medicine, environmental management, microbiology, biotechnology, environmental engineering, and more. .
Emphasizing the scientific commonality between the two organizations, Muhammad sent Pakistani professors and students to Iran to benefit from the Nigeb training course in genetic engineering and biotechnology, and to create science projects in these areas. It was proposed to boost scientific interactions by implementing them.
Nigev’s head said on his part that the institute is the main centre of genetic engineering and biotechnology in Iran and the region. The Institute’s scientific activities focus on meeting national and regional needs.
Officials detailed a wide range of activities being carried out in a variety of areas, including early cancer diagnosis, cultivation of olive fruit and salt-resistant grains, and the development of diagnostic kits for humans, livestock and poultry. , various vaccines such as HPV and influenza.
