Tehran – When the bullying government insists on negotiations, it is not a real attempt to resolve the issue, but a calculated move that imposes their will, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, has continued to express his will to engage in consultations with Iran, despite US President Donald Trump maintaining his speech with Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei spoke at a meeting between three branches of the government and many heads of Iranian authorities on Saturday in Tehran. “The sustainability of some bullying governments that want to be negotiated is not about solving the problem, but about impose their own expectations. Iran’s Islamic Republic will undoubtedly reject their demands,” the leader said.
Trump has been asking him to sit at the table of negotiations over the nuclear program since the year Iran left the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and reimposed heavy sanctions against Tehran. The multi-year 2015 deal restricted Iran’s nuclear activity in exchange for sanctions relief. In addition to Iran and the United States, the UK, France, China, Russia and Germany were also signers of the contract.
Recently, Trump said he wrote to Ayatollah Khamenei and asked him to have consultations with Washington. The leader said negotiations with the US in February were “unwise, not intelligent, and dishonorable.”
His Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent said Trump is reportedly reportedly reportedly saying that the president’s new sanctions “will shut down Iran’s oil sector and drone production capabilities.”
Washington’s withdrawal from the JCPOA spurred European countries to begin eschewing contracts, despite remaining official signatories. Iran began to scale back some of its own commitments in 2020 after it was revealed that Europe had also decided to scrap the nuclear deal.
“Currently, these three European countries have issued a statement, claiming that Iran has not fulfilled its nuclear commitment under the JCPOA. So, did you meet you? You have never done it in the first place. After the US withdrawal, you have promised to compensate in some way, but you have broken that promise too,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Shamly there are limits!”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the leader emphasized that the principles of Western civilization were contrary to the principles of Islam, and that “we cannot follow them.”
“We can use profits (available) anywhere in the world, but we cannot rely on the principles of Western civilization,” the leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that the Western double standard was “disgrace” to Western civilization, and that he cited the claims of free dissemination of information as an example of such double policy.
“They claim they have a free circulation of information. Is that really true? Is there a free circulation of information in the West right now? Can they mention the names of Haji Qassem, Seyed Hassan Nasrara, or martyr Hanie in the virtual space of the West? Can they protest the crimes committed in Palestine and Lebanon? Can they deny the events of Nazi German suspects against Jews? This is their free circulation of information! This civilization revealed the true nature of today.”
The leader also pointed to Iran’s economic disaster and emphasized the importance of reforming the country’s monetary policy and strengthening national highways.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged all Iranian officials to promote consistency to resolve the issue by saying that three branches of the government and military should strengthen cooperation.
