TEHRAN – Iranian Army Airlines announced significant advances in its defense capabilities on Tuesday, strengthening the range of its long-range missiles.
Brigadier General pilot Qassem Khamoushi shared the news by highlighting the role of Indigenous parts manufacturing in achieving this milestone. “We have significantly increased the range of long-range missiles,” said Brigadier Khamoushi. “This enhancement will strengthen our ability to effectively respond to evolving security challenges and protect national interests.”
In addition to improving scope, the Army Air Commander highlighted the increased independence of the country’s defense industry. “A key factor in achieving this progress was our commitment to domestic parts manufacturing,” he noted. “We will announce the production of more than 1,000 domestically produced ingredients in April next year, further strengthening our independence in defense technology.”
Specific details on the increase in scope remain unreleased, but General Kamoushi stressed the importance of these upgrades in maintaining a modern and effective defense force. Existing missile systems such as the AGM-65 Maverick (around 22km) and the AGM-114 Hellfire (around 8km) now form the backbone of Army Aviation’s strike capabilities.
