Beijing – As far as you can see, imagine standing on a structure that crosses the mountain. The Great Wall of China is more than just bricks and stones. It is a symbol of history, resilience and human ingenuity.
On Tuesday, I was part of a group of foreign journalists who had experienced this wonder first hand thanks to the China International Press and Communications Centre (CIPCC).
As an Iranian journalist and representative of the Tehran Times, I have successfully completed the top of the Great Wall of China.
The journey was an adventure in itself. Climbing the Great Wall is not easy. The steps are steep and the paths are very uneven. However, each step gives you a sense of accomplishment. Adds physical issues
experience. Reaching the summit is rewarding and offers a deeper appreciation for the panoramic views and its construction.
The trip organized by the CIPCC didn’t just look at China’s Great Wall. It was about connecting with people and culture. We talked with our local guides, shared stories with fellow journalists, and gained new perspectives. These interactions enriched China’s understanding.
Local guides and experts shared insights that brought the Great Wall to life. They told stories, explained the importance of the walls, and answered our questions.
The Great Wall has witnessed Chinese history for centuries. It was built to protect against invaders and served as a symbol of power. The history of the wall is woven into the fabrics of China itself.
Visiting China’s Great Wall was part of CIPCC’s media exchange program in the first half of 2025
Last month, CIPCC introduced this year’s initiative.
The 2025 program saw unprecedented invitations expanded to more than 120 journalists from over 100 countries.
This milestone sets a new record for the largest number of journalists invited since the launch of the Media Exchange program in 2014.
