The French foreign minister rejected “any form” of Israeli annexation in Gaza, AFP reports.
Jean Noel Barott commented in response to the Israeli defense minister, ordering the troops to “grab more ground” in Gaza, and saying that he warned of a partial annexation of the territory if Hamas does not release the remaining prisoners.
“France is opposed to any form of annexation, whether it relates to the West Bank or the Gaza Strip,” Barott told reporters in the French city of Dijon. “We have a very clear vision for the future of this region: a solution for two states living side by side in peace.”
Meanwhile, the Palestinian UN ambassador Riyadh Mansour has denounced the international community for not holding Israel responsible for resuming a massive war with Gaza and for resuming military aggression in some parts of the West Bank.
“Israel’s plan relies on the assumption that it will not face a decisive international response to crime and illegal behavior and no clear consequences. So, as you repeat the principles, they take notes and they will continue to act illegally.”
“The goal for Israel has always been the largest Palestinian land to be the largest Palestinian land with minimal Palestinians,” he said.
“In the face of this unprecedented escalation of Israel, there must be an unprecedented escalation of international measures and responses. If you do not escalate your actions – concrete actions that support international law and defend Security Council resolutions and UN resolutions – Israel will not change that action.”
British Parliament says Israel has broken the ceasefire contract
The chairman of the UK Foreign Affairs Committee also denounced the Israeli ambassador and accused the Israeli regime of refusing to respect the first ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
Labour MP Emily Thornberry said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has resumed the war with Gaza.
Thornberry responded to Tsippi Hotvelly, an interview with the British Ambassador of Israel.
