Lebanon Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned Israel’s latest attack on the country’s civilians this morning in Sidon.
“Israel is once again targeting peaceful civilians, this time in the southern capital,” Salam’s office said in a statement, Al Jazeera reported.
“Targeting the city of Sidon or other Lebanese regions is a blatant attack on Lebanon’s sovereignty, a security agreement with a clear violation of Resolution 1701 and the halt of hostilities.”
The statement added: “President Salam highlights the need to put maximum pressure on Israel, halting ongoing attacks on various regions, particularly residential areas, and the need to halt the full halt of military operations.”
Israeli forces claim it assassinated Hamas officials, but reports say the strike killed two of his family.
