The event will be held in recognition of the state’s growing infrastructure and healthcare capabilities, particularly 10 efficient hospitals outweighing the nearby state’s efficient hospitals, the state tourism director said Wednesday.
Mohsen Masoum-Alizadeh added that the meeting will be attended by 10 Eco Member States and representatives from observer countries, Cyprus and Iraq. “Each participating countries are arranged to have a delegation of up to seven members,” the official said.
He noted that the conference will feature a series of professional discussions, a medical tourism exhibition, and side meetings with domestic companies operating in the field.
“It aims to highlight Iran’s capabilities in health tourism and to encourage cooperation with a variety of international stakeholders, including diplomats, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Health, private sector participants, service providers, influencers, tourism guides and more.”
The event’s agenda, according to organizers, will include a ceremony celebrating Persian philosopher and physician Avisenna (IBN SINA) on the first day, followed by an official opening ceremony, diplomatic sessions and an exhibition at the University of Medical Sciences. On the second day, the culmination was reached with a closing ceremony and press conference, with specialized panels and discussions with medical tourism companies. Day 3 includes a visit to selected hospitals and medical facilities and a tour of the state’s attractions. Additionally, a certificate of participation will be awarded at the end of each specialist panel.
According to available data, the number of medical tourists visiting the Islamic Republic is around 1 million per year. Some experts believe that selecting Iran as a destination for health services offers a multifaceted benefit covering economic, quality health services and the cultural aspects that make the country a compelling destination for those seeking care abroad.
Countless clinics and hospitals in the country offer comprehensive services including airport transfer, accommodation arrangements and post-treatment care, with international patients feeling comfortable and fully cared for during their stay.
The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is a regional organization established in 1964 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey, promoting economic and cultural cooperation among member states. In 1992, the organization expanded to include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, bringing its membership to ten countries.
