There are no winners in the tariff war. Opposition to the world only leads to self-assessment, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday when he met Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Beijing.
Xi has said over the past 70 years that China has achieved development through independence and difficult struggles, not relying on the mercy of others and not fearing unfair oppression.
He added that no matter how the outside world changes, China will remain confident and focus on carrying out its problems well.
Noting that both China and the European Union are the world’s leading economies and solid supporters of economic globalization and free trade, Xi said that both sides formed close ties of economic symbiosis, and more than a third of the world’s total.
He called on China and the EU to fulfill their international responsibilities, work together to protect economic globalization and the international trade environment, and jointly resist unilateral bullying.
He said this not only protects the legitimate rights and interests of China and the EU, but also supports international rules and order, while maintaining fairness and justice within the international community.
