Tehran – Israeli bombs are bombed by hospitals in Gaza, marking another war crime in an ongoing attack on the besieged territory.
Warplanes launched an attack on Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, attacking the emergency building with two missiles.
The attack caused serious damage to several important sections of the hospital, including reception areas, laboratories and pharmacies.
Footage from the scene showed a confused evacuation of injured patients following the second alert issued after the missile strike.
Images circulating on social media also show traumatized Palestinians fleeing hospitals. Some saw sick and injured relatives dragging in hospital beds.
Reports show that many patients and injured individuals have some of the critical situation lying on the streets around hospitals and not paying attention.
According to the hospital’s medical director, the departments most affected by the bombing were emergency situations, trauma, laboratories, pharmacies and radiology.
“The hospitals no longer serve due to the Israeli bombing,” he said.
The Gaza Health Ministry condemned the attack and accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting the medical centre.
“They bombed the buildings within the hospital complex, completely destroying them and forcing patients and staff to be evacuated,” the ministry said in a statement.
Al-Ahli is one of Gaza’s key medical facilities and is now decommissioned due to airstrikes.
“Hundreds of patients and injured people had to be evacuated in the middle of the night, many now on the streets without medical care, taking serious risks,” said Khalil Al-Deqran, a spokesman for the ministry, in an interview with Reuters.
The ministry called on international organisations to take immediate action to protect Gaza’s health sector, urging them to comply with international law and humanitarian agreements.
It warned of ongoing violations that continue to put patients and healthcare facilities at risk.
In a statement, Hamas described the bombing as “a new war crime committed by fascist occupation forces,” and accused Israeli forces of committing “brutal crimes” throughout the Gaza Strip.
The resistance movement argued that the attack emphasized Israel’s disregard of laws, norms and humanitarian standards, and accused the United States of providing coverage and support for assault.
Hamas said the US administration was “fully responsible” for the bombing and that the strike would not have happened without the green light from Washington.
“Can the world, especially the UN Security Council, be able to remain silent in the face of modern, unprecedented crime?” the movement asked, highlighting the bombing of hospitals and the movement of injured civilians.
This is not the first time that Al-Ahli hospital has been targeted. In October 2023, Israeli attacks in a parking lot within a hospital compound killed and injured hundreds of Palestinians.
In an update, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported that 11 people have been killed and 111 have been injured within the last 24 hours.
