TEHRAN – The ancient city of Isfahan has actively voted for more than 30 members of the UN Tourism Commission, and in 2026 hosted the 38th meeting of the East Asia Regional Commission, Governor Maidi Jamalinejad, said.
Mehr News Agency reported that the 37th meeting of the East Asia Regional Committee was held in Jakarta from April 15-16.
The privilege was announced at the end of a meeting attended by a delegation of Iranian experts led by UN Tourism Secretary Zlab Pololikashvili and Deputy Tourism Minister Anovan Moseni Bandopei.
The Deputy Tourism Minister called this success a turning point in Iran’s tourism foreign policy.
He added that promoting Iran’s position on the international stage by holding tourism events is an important approach to the Ministry of Tourism and will continue in the next phase.
Videos of Isfahan’s cultural and tourist attractions were also on display. This was warmly welcomed by representatives of the country.
Iran is the chance to show participants from East Asia the attractions of Isfahan.
Isfahan once stood at a crossroads in Iran’s international trade and diplomacy, but now for good reason it is one of Iran’s top tourist destinations. It is filled with many architectural wonders, including unparalleled Islamic buildings, bazaars, museums, Persian gardens, tree-lined paths and more. It is a city where you walk, get lost in a bazaar, a city where you can doze off in beautiful gardens and meet people.
The ancient city has long been called Nessf et Jahan. This has been translated into “Half of the World.” The city is home to many versatile artisans who support its reputation as a living museum of traditional culture.
