Tehran – A group of 18 Russian campers and SUVs have arrived in Iran’s ILAM province as part of a broader tour across the country, marking a new chapter expanding tourism relations between Iran and Russia.
Visitors explored several cultural and natural charms of the greenery and mountainous regions of western Iran before continuing their journey towards Iraq through the Iranian-Melan border.
In addition to the Russian group, 17 campers from various parts of Iran also entered ILAM to explore the diverse charms of the province, according to Farzad Sharifi, the state’s tourism director.
During their stay, visitors toured important historical and cultural sites, including the Valli Castle in Illam City, the Anthropological Museum, and the picturesque Kafarin Valley in Badreg County.
“These rally tours are a valuable opportunity to introduce Iran’s historic, natural and cultural attractions to the global tourist market,” Sharifi said.
The arrival of Russian tourists is triggered by bilateral visa-free contracts for group travelers signed in recent years between Tehran and Moscow, aimed at fostering deeper tourism cooperation. Iran is currently hoping to attract more Russian visitors. Many of them remain unfamiliar with the ancient nations and their abundant historical and ecological treasures.
