According to AFP, Ukraine and the United States have signed a “Memorandum of Intent” to help us move forward in accessing Kyiv’s natural resources and important minerals, for our access to Kyiv’s natural resources and important minerals.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of the memorandum with our American partners on the intentions of the memorandum, paving the way for an economic partnership agreement and the establishment of an investment fund to rebuild Ukraine.”
Kiev and Washington had planned to sign a contract for the extraction of Ukraine’s strategic minerals a few weeks ago, but the clash between President Donald Trump and Volodimia Zelensky in February took on a derailment of the agreement.
Trump wants a deal designed to provide U.S. royalty payments for benefits from the mining of Ukrainian resources and rare minerals as compensation for the aid given to Ukraine by his predecessor, Joe Biden.
Svyrydenko did not release details of the memorandum, but said work will continue to work to secure a final agreement.
