Tehran – Iran is scheduled to hold an International Tour Operator Forum from tomorrow until May 2nd.
More than 100 tour operators from 33 countries have been invited to participate in the event, according to Islem Shohaei, Director of Marketing and Tourism Development, Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Shojaei announced that the event coincides with the 7th edition of the Iran Export Capacity Exhibition (Iran Expo 2025).
Officials described the forum as an important opportunity to present the Islamic Republic as a safe and attractive destination while countering negative perceptions about the country.
Tour operators from Vietnam, Thailand, India, Tajikistan, Armenia, Turkey, Uganda, Mauritius, Bosnia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Turkmenistan, Malay, Amaia, Malay, Malay, Malay, Bangladesh, are expected to participate.
The B2B meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at the Percien Estegral Hotel in Tehran.
Shojaei outlined the programme of visiting tour operators, including tours of major historic and cultural attractions, including the Sa’dabad Palace, the National Museum of Iran, the Abbasabad Cultural Tourist Zone, and a visit to Quiche Island.
Emphasizing the dual mission of his office, promoting Iran and attracting international tourists – Shohai highlighted the important role international events play in strengthening Iran’s global image. He also emphasizes the importance of tourism as a tool for public diplomacy, calling it one of the smartest strategies to introduce a country to the world.
He further mentioned Iran’s recent participation in the 37th East Asia and the Pacific Commission, as well as the 60th South Asia Committee Conference of UN Tourism (formerly known as UNWTO), held in Jakarta, and Iran’s election to the UN Tourism Executive Council. He said these developments will open new opportunities for Iran’s tourism sector.
Additionally, he has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with UN Tourism to host an International City Tourism Summit in Tehran.
Shojaei also highlighted its plans to make the most of influencer marketing to make the most of influencer marketing to promote Iran globally through interactive content, media coverage and digital platforms.
Looking ahead, Shojaei has highlighted Iran’s plans to take part in 10 international tourism exhibitions and host five (tourist) roadshows in cities such as Basra, Baghdad, Karbala, Najaf, Poland, Hungary, Serbia and Russia.
He also revealed that Iran plans to hold a conference specialized for the Silk Road countries of Semnan, and held the third international health tourism conference of eco-member countries in Hadan this year.
