Gaza’s humanitarian response is on the verge of complete collapse. Combined with six weeks of intense hostilities and two months of obstruction of full aid, civilians remain without what they need to survive.
Without an immediate resumption of aid delivery, the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) will not have access to the food, medicines and lifesaving supplies needed to maintain many of Gaza’s programs.
“Civilians in Gaza face an overwhelming daily struggle to overcome the dangers of hostilities, deal with relentless evacuations, and endure the consequences of being deprived of emergency humanitarian assistance.”
Under international humanitarian law, Israel is obligated to use all means to ensure that the basic needs of civilians under its control are met. If the clog continues, programs like ICRC Common Kitchen, which serves only meals each day, can only operate for a few more weeks.
Red Crossfield Hospital in Gaza is running dangerously low in food and medical supplies, and some important medicines and consumables are already exhausted.
Hospitals and other health facilities prioritize supplies to reorganize their inventory and continue life-saving efforts. Without emergency restocking, hospitals will struggle to continue providing much-needed care to their patients.
