BEIJING – Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Russia on Wednesday afternoon, on the afternoon of Wednesday, and attended the celebration, with the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War in Moscow.
Prior to its arrival, XI highlighted the importance of Russia-China’s strategic partnership and its importance in strengthening global governance.
President XI made his remarks in a signed article published in the Russian Official Gazette entitled “Build a brighter future to build learning from history together.”
“China and Russia are both major countries with a major influence on the world. They are constructive forces to maintain global strategic stability and improve global governance. Our bilateral relationships are maintained by a strong internal drive and are based on clear historical logics rooted in profound cultural heritage,” he said.
Xi emphasized that partnerships between the two countries will not be affected by external influences.
“Our relationships are not directed or shaken up by third parties. Together, we need to thwart all schemes to disrupt or undermine the bond of friendship and trust, and we should not be confused by temporary issues or anxious about the horrifying challenges,” he said.
President XI warned of the potential consequences of unilateral action at the global stage.
“One-sided, hegemony, bullying, and coercive practices have seriously undermined our world. Once again, humanity has appeared at the crossroads of unity or division, dialogue or conflict, cooperation or zero-sum games that are beneficial to both sides,” he said.
Referring to the permanent membership of China and Russia on the UN Security Council, XI highlighted their role in promoting multilateralism.
“The more turbulent and complicated the international situation becomes, the more we need to support and defend the UN authority, and firmly support the UN international system, the international order supported by international law, and the fundamental norms of international relations based on the objectives and principles of the UN Charter, in the order of globalization and compliance with an equality and orderly order.
President XI doubled his call to create a “community that shares the future of humanity.” President XI focused on building future communities shared with Chinese neighbours while working on the Central Conference on Neighborhood Conferences held in Beijing from April 8th to 9th.
The conference emphasized that China supports the “principles of friendship, integrity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness” in order to strengthen strategic trust with its neighboring countries and jointly build a vision of “five homes”: “peace, stability, prosperity, beauty, friendship.”
Unlike the United States, which prioritizes domination and unilateral domination, China pursues peaceful and independent diplomacy focusing on coexistence, mutual interests, and cooperation that is beneficial to both sides, and often bypasses international law and institutions when it contradicts its interests.
U.S. unilateralism became even more apparent in the wake of President Donald Trump’s trade war against China.
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has imposed tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese exports. China fought back on US products with 125% tariffs.
China is seeking to resolve trade disputes through dialogue.
