Tehran – In cooperation with the Iranian University of Art, a specialist conference on “Welcome to Glass Era” will be held on May 19th at the Iranian Glass and Ceramic Museum, known as the Abuzhne Museum.
Museum manager Navid Salehvand said the rally aims to discuss various aspects of art, science and glass protection in Iran and neighboring civilizations, along with the presence of experts.
He added that excellent researchers will study the historical, scientific and artistic aspects of glass using an interdisciplinary approach.
He named the lecturers of the event as follows: Masoumeh Zamani Sa’dabadi with topic “From heart of the soil to the pinnacle of art,” Mohammad Amin Emami with topic “Transparent alchemy,” Mohammad Sadr with topic “Glass instruments in medical and pharmaceutical texts from the early Islamic centuries to the Safavid period,” and Somayyeh Noghani with topic “Study the role of interdisciplinary science in protecting historical glass.”
Salehvand emphasized that the program will be held at Kiarostami Hall from 1pm to 4pm, adding that public entry is free.
Salehvand will be discussing lectures during specialist meetings on the theme of “Essays on the Evolution of Iran’s Glass Making Arts.”
The Abgineh Museum offers visitors a wide range of glasswork, brickwork, plasterwork, mirror work, and inlay artwork from the second millennium BC to the present.
Moreover, the museum’s two-storey octagonal building is a source of appeal as it itself seamlessly blends 19th-century European motifs with authentic Iranian architecture.
