Thousands of Gazaans could die of starvation “unless immediate action is taken,” leaders from seven European countries warned in a complaint against Israel on Friday, Polichko reported.
A statement issued simultaneously by Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Slovenia and Spain called on Israel to stop new attacks in the Gaza Strip and to allow updated access by international aid agencies.
“We will not be silent in front of the human humanitarian catastrophe happening right in front of our eyes in Gaza,” the leader said. “Over 50,000 men, women and children have lost their lives. Unless immediate action is taken away, more people could starve to death in the coming days and weeks.”
Earlier this week, the UN World Food Program warned that 470,000 Gazans are “facing catastrophic hunger” due to Israel’s actions to shut down aid flows since March 2.
