Spanish parliament passed an unbinding motion on Tuesday asking the government to impose an arms embargo on Israel in response to military operations in Gaza, the Anadolu Agency reported.
The motion introduced by the Left Sumar Alliance, part of the ruling coalition, was approved by a 176-171 vote, along with opposition Podemos and the Catalan Left (ERC), along with Republicans on the left of the Catalan (ERC), El Pais reported.
The conservative People’s Party (PP) and far-right VOX voted against the proposal, but all other parties supported it.
Lawmakers praised the allegations. This urges the Spanish government to ban the export of materials that can strengthen Israeli forces, including helmets, vests and fuel.
The allegations also recommend reforming Spanish foreign trade laws and ban military agreements with states accused of committing genocide or crimes against humanity, citing Israel’s attacks, particularly on Gaza.
