South Lebanon – The fourth and final rounds of mayoral elections for Lebanon’s governor have concluded, with voter turnout standing at 36.65% in Nabatier and 43.17% in South Lebanon, according to the Home Office.
The vote was a practical referendum on the absolute general legitimacy of resistance, both in general and in the constitution, as the people of Lebanese are the source of power.
While examining the election process, Home Minister Ahmad Hajjar said “the South enjoys a special position in light of the occupied territory and the ongoing Israeli attacks.”
Hajar said, “The Lebanese state is engaged in round-the-clock diplomatic contacts to implement the ceasefire agreement, and efforts are being made to ensure smooth execution of the election process.” The minister also expressed his hopes for “lasting peace in Lebanon.”
Regarding the restructuring of what was destroyed during the ongoing US-led Israeli invasion, the minister said, “The government is committed to securing the necessary funds and hopes that these efforts will bear fruit as soon as possible.”
Clearly, local government elections highlight a strong coordination between Hezbollah and the Amal movement.
In Nabatier, he was one of the candidates who frequently appeared on anti-resistance channels and won the title of anti-resistance Shia spokesman, and won 2,000 votes as the last winner on the Shia duo list.
At their traditional base, Lebanese military candidates were pushing for elections in which Shias did not perform badly during the 2024 September-November intensive attacks in Lebanon. It clearly shows their decline in popularity in favor of a list supported by the free patriotic movement and other Christian groups.
During the US-led Israeli attack, Lebanese military MP Ghada Ayoub said the heinous crime committed against a popular base with resistant was the fulfillment of “heavenly justice.”
After the war, those forced to evacuate returned home and voted for resistance, but Ayub even failed in a Christian village belonging to the racist right-wing.
As for Shiite duo, they strongly believe in the commandments of the first Imam, Imam Ali (AS).
The duo has never used the rhetoric of inflammatory sects that is guaranteed by Lebanon’s sovereignty in general, and Shia community in particular. Political resilience was first established by Martyr Sayyed Musa Al-Sadr (RA) and subsequently perpetuated by Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah (RA).
Given the Shia duo’s performance in the city’s election, the focus is now on the parliamentary elections in Lebanon, scheduled for May 2026.
During an examination of the election process among the two governors of the South, Army Commander Rodolph Heikal issued a statement confirming that Israeli enemies prevent the deployment of Lebanese forces in the South and violated relevant international resolutions.
Haikal added: “The success of the election process is extremely important in light of current exceptional challenges.”
Haikal’s position undermined everything that anti-resistance teams attempt to exempt “Israel” from responsibility for the imperfect deployment of the Army in the South and campaign of slandering resistance.
On the day of resistance and liberation, South Lebanon was liberated a quarter century ago, and during the recent attacks, horde of Israel’s enemies was invaded and unable to establish footing in one town.
Without the intense sacrifices of the Resistance Fighters and their families, Lebanon would not have witnessed the day of liberation.
