Tehran – It is scheduled to take place in Faz province, southern Iran, with the recent Maymand marking traditional glass production in the national city and Hassanabad as the carpet in the national city.
The event will be held soon and coinciding with Handicraft Week, Regional Tourism Director Mohsen Zai said on Monday.
The event will be held with the presence of national and state officials as well as tourists and art lovers in Maimand and Hassanabad, officials added.
Meymand said it is known as one of the civilization hubs and rose production centres of the distant past, and said that Meymand boasts proper climatic conditions, is considered one of the main centres for growing roses and producing rose water across the country. This feature made related crafts, including traditional glass manufacturing, popular there, he added.
Ziaei has continued that Maymand is a fitting title for the national traditional glass manufacturing due to the presence of an outstanding master and its long history of its activities in the art of traditional glass manufacturing. Traditional glass making crafts are considered ancient practical handicrafts of Maimand, he added.
Pointing to Hassanabad’s registration as a national carpet city in Eqlid, he said that the national registration is an important step: weaving art, creating jobs, creating branding, and maintaining and promoting further introductions to tourists and future generations.
Regarding plans to celebrate the national registration of these two cities, he said the ceremony will be held with the support of state representatives of the Magillis, the governor and related administrative agencies, and the national registration plate will be delivered to the secretariats of two national cities, traditional glass manufacturing and carpet.
Ziaei emphasized that these events are an opportunity to revive handicrafts that are exposed to oblivion and an effective means to enhance tourism in the above areas.
