TEHRAN – The American Council on Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy group in the United States, strongly condemned the recent US military strike against Iran, labeling it as an “illegal and unjust act of war” that prioritizes the interests of the Israeli government over the American people.
In a statement issued by Cair National Executive Director Dihad Awad, the organization criticized the Biden administration for following what is described as a “dangerous path” that has been repeated beyond the US war in the Middle East. The group argued that the attack, influenced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government pressure, ignored the US intelligence report rating that Iran is currently not pursuing nuclear weapons.
Cair warned that this escalation could drag the United States into a wider, avoidable conflict in the region. Drawing comparisons to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the organization said current military actions were based on equally misleading information and based on external lobbying rather than national interests.
Civil rights groups also accused the Israeli government of trying to expand its regional influence through an aggressive military strategy, urging the US government to move away from what they call “death, starvation, ethnic cleansing and destruction” campaigns.
Care then repeated its calls to end US military support for Israel. In particular, in light of the recent unilateral strikes carried out by Israel against Iranian targets. The organization previously urged the US to halt the transfer of arms to the Netanyahu government, warning that Israel’s push for “zero enrichment” demand in nuclear negotiations is a calculated move to spark diplomacy and war.
Earlier on Sunday, the US struck three Iranian nuclear sites and inserted it into Israel’s efforts to decapitate the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program with a dangerous plan that could cause conflict in the wider region.
