BEIRUT – During a Security Council session in Syria, US UN Ambassador Dorothycia called on the Syrian government to implement a series of political and safeguards, and began consultations with the most notable Israeli entities.
The US ambassador said Washington has begun a “new era” in relation to Syria, adding that “the US is currently working to end the sanctions imposed on Syria.”
Shea outlined a set of requirements that Damascus must adhere to in the next stage. Most notably, it will consult with “Israel” to reach a “non-attack agreement,” followed by opening border boundary files, presenting clear plans for foreign fighter jets presenting in Syrian territory, banning groups of terrorists and taking immediate action.
Why now? !
In light of the silence of the HTS-led regime, if not accomplice, Syrian airspace is one of the most prominent regions of US-led Israeli attacks on Iran.
The ambassador’s call for Israel-Syria normalization coincided with the demolition of Tel Aviv homes and the expansion of the land’s sunny expansion in the wide area south of Syria.
As part of an effort to consolidate occupation of areas under its control, Israeli bulldozers claimed they had destroyed around 15 homes, ousted residents, carried out forest clearing operations, and prevented occupying forces from clearly monitoring the occupying Syrian region.
In parallel, Israeli forces are currently blocking the main roads of Kneitra amid protests by residents living under effectively Israeli control.
The US ambassador for the UN statement on Syria is a continuation of the course the US adopted towards Syria following the country’s neutralization from a long-term conflict with Israel’s enemy.
This is the goal sought by Syrian appointed president, Arjurani (now known as Ahmed Alshara), efforts to encourage Damascus to normalize relations, and was declared in a series of meetings (directly and indirectly) with Israeli officials, including Azerbaijan, Abu Dhabi and others.
These meetings are about to sign a “security agreement” in which Israel’s enemies end the 1974 agreement with Damascus.
It also annexes Syrian territory that it has recently occupied, giving full control over Southern Syria.
Washington also withdraws troops from bases in Al Wazir and Tal Beidar in northeastern Syria.
It also retracted 500 of Syria’s approximately 1,900 units (distributed to seven bases and four military points).
During the aforementioned Security Council session, Najat Rokudi, the deputy envoy to the UN Secretary-General of Syria, warned that Syria cannot afford another wave of “unstable.”
Nevertheless, Rocchidi did not deal with the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syria, including violations of Syrian airspace, by intercepting Iranian missiles and drones fired against Israel in response to the regime’s illegal war on the Islamic Republic that began on June 13th.
“Rochdi only thought that in response to a rare incident related to the launch of a small rocket from Syria to Golan Heights, occupied by Syria, including serious incidents in southwestern Syria, including Israeli artillery bombardment and Israeli artillery and airstrikes in the south arsenal.”
The operation was claimed to be called “Uri al-Bas” by the newly established Syrian resistance fact.
Meanwhile, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi announced on X that “more than 2 million Syrian refugees and displaced people have returned home since December last year, representing a sign of hope amid growing tensions in the region.”
The High Commissioner added: “This proves that a political solution is needed, not another wave of instability and displacement.”
In a meeting with Lebanon Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Grandi praised the plan approved by the government for the return of refugees a few days ago, stressing that the organization “with all its powers will support it.”
On his side, Salam said “Lebanese security services are ready to control the Lebanon-Syrian border, regulate traffic, prevent illegal intrusions and work with the Syrian government to achieve this goal.”
