Israeli air forces carried out a fierce airstrike on the mountains overlooking South Lebanon on Friday in an attack that said Israeli forces targeted underground assets of the Hezbollah movement, ABC News reported.
Shortly afterwards, another strike crashed into an apartment in the nearby city of Navatier, killing one woman, injuring 11 people, and knocking out the top floor of the building.
It was not immediately clear whether the strike targeted anyone in the building.
Israel carried out almost daily airstrikes in southern Lebanon as the 14-month Israel-Hezbollah War ended in a US-mediated ceasefire. Friday’s strike was more intense than usual.
“We will remain viable no matter how much we bomb with your fighters and drones,” Nabatier Shiite clergyman Hassan Gandor told The Associated Press at the scene of the strike outside the building.
The Lebanese president and prime minister condemned Israel’s strike in South Lebanon, saying they had breached the ceasefire agreement.
Two waves of air strikes overlooking Nabatier came in mountains, and buster bombs from bunkers were used, according to a Lebanese state-run news agency. The NNA said four people were mildly injured in an airstrike outside the city.
