Mansour Bijar, governor of Tehran – Sistan-Baluchestan, highlights the important role of the Chabahar Railway, describing it as an important route connecting southeastern Iran with tourism and the national economy.
He also highlighted the state’s efforts to fully utilize the potential of the project, reported Miras Arya (CHTN).
During his visit to the Chabahar Railway Project, he said that the railways on the coast of the Sea of Omani play a role beyond transport. They are like bridges that bring hope to the tourists, the capital and the southeastern part of the country, he added.
He said the project wanted a balanced development and sought to establish a sustainable infrastructure for national tourism.
Vijar explained that the Chabahar Zahedan Railway is planned to meet logistics and economic concerns in the region and transform Chabahar into the largest destination for domestic and international tourists and investors.
Apart from being a commercial port, he noted, Chabahar should have a position as a new space to boost the tourism industry along with regional markets and transportation possibilities.
He said the railway would connect Macran coasts to a bright future. Each kilometre of the railway built could potentially prosper, employment and hope in the southeastern part, he added.
Pointing to the physical advances of the project, the Governor called for the expansion of the railway as an important factor in cooperation with the tourism, trade and transportation sectors.
He emphasized that once the project is launched, it will boost relations between the country’s internal and foreign regions on the banks of the Sea of Oman from the country’s soil, and a new future will occur in the region.
Chabahar Railway is part of a government macro project that will boost the north-south corridors and transform the port into a regional trade and tourism hub.
Based on the recent ratification after the president’s visit to the state, credit worth 2600 billion rial ($35.8 million) has been allocated to the project, which accelerated its implementation, he said.
The project undertaken by the Khatam Al-Anbiya Construction headquarters will be completed by the end of the current Iranian year, he said.
The 628-kilometer railway project aimed at connecting Chabahar to Zahedan (the capital of southeastern Balchestan province) is an important part of the north-south transport corridor. Beginning in 2013, there was 80% physical progress.
Connecting ports to the railway network is an issue that Iran has seriously emphasized and followed up in recent years, as the country is strongly pursuing its purpose to enhance exports and transport through ports.
