The Gaza court handed over to Yasser Abu Shabaab, the leader of an Israeli-backed criminal group, for ten days to surrender himself for trial.
In a statement, the Revolutionary Court of the military justice authorities in Gaza said Abu Shabaab was considered a fugitive from justice and would have tried in his absence if he did not surrender.
He got into the spotlight last month when Netanyahu said that with the advice of “security” his government “revitalised” a powerful local clan in Gaza.
Abu Shabaab group, reportedly composed of around 100 armed men, later said online that its members were involved in protecting aid freight sent to distribution centres run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Mass murders of people seeking assistance near the GHF distribution centre have become a daily occurrence.
The court said Abu Shabaab faced three charges. Communication with treason and hostile political parties. Form armed gangs; and armed rebellion. He said anyone who knew where he was and did not report him could be considered hiding the fugitive from justice.
