Tehran – A private collection of artifacts related to Tajie (a kind of play of religious passion) including clothing, masks, swords, flags and more is on display at Azadi Tower in Tehran.
The exhibition, entitled “In In Mourning of Cypress,” highlights some of Iran’s intangible heritage designated by UNESCO.
This cultural artistic event focuses on the visual and ritual representation of the ashes epic (10th Muharam, Imam Hussein’s Martian Tragedy (AS), his family, his companions at the Battle of Karbara) and the Iranian mourning tradition. According to ISNA, it includes a collection of exhibitions, dramatic performances, workshops and sideline programs.
Interested people can visit the exhibition every day except Saturdays and official holidays from 10am to 6am
Tajie was added to the UNESCO list for Intangible Cultural Heritage in November 2010.
Tajie presents religious events, historical and mythical stories, and folk tales. Each performance has four components: poetry, music, song and movement.
