Tehran – The recent revival of violent clashes between the Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes in Syria’s South Sweida province has once again been ironically exploited by Israel to justify hostile intervention within the country.
A new blast of fierce fighting Friday exploded as another vulnerable ceasefire quickly collapsed after the withdrawal of Syrian government forces from the region. Despite a robust denial from the Syrian Home Affairs Ministry denies the government’s relocation to the majority of Druze regions, violence surged and local residents were caught in crossfires.
The UN Human Rights Office reports reliable evidence of widespread human rights abuses committed by all parties involved in the fighting in Sweida, including the executions of summary, lures, lures, and extensive destruction and looting of the house.
Amidst the chaos, Israel seized an opportunity to enhance its aggression. On Wednesday, Israeli airstrikes targeted Sweida and Damascus, violating Syrian sovereignty and further promoting chaos and division within the country. Israel previously issued a thinly veiled threat demanding that Syrian forces withdraw from the south, blatantly imposing their will on the country.
While Israel claims to be acting to protect the Druze community, the reality is that these strikes form part of a broader, evil security policy aimed at preventing Syrian forces from maintaining important presence and heavy weapons in the South. This forceful approach is not about humanitarian concerns, but about enforcing Israel’s regional control.
Israeli authorities justified intervention when necessary to protect the Druze and ensure demilitarization of the South after a fatal conflict broke out early in the week. However, leading analysts within Israel have revealed the real motivation behind these attacks. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s personal political survival uses local conflicts as smokescreens to distract attention from smoking scandals.
Israel’s escalating military provocation in Syria is in line with a dangerous campaign that cements its advantages across the Middle East. Netanyahu’s rhetoric about “changes in the Middle East” revealed in October 2023 shortly after the devastating war with Gaza reveals an ominous vision of regional conquest supported by military attacks.
This offensive stance is despite Netanyahu himself wanting the ICC for crimes against humanity, despite Israel already facing serious accusations of massacres and war crimes at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its actions in Gaza. But encouraged by unconditional support from the United States, Israel continues to fight war, spreading instability and bringing suffering throughout the region.
Israel’s warm agenda shows no signs of decline as it mercilessly exploits conflicts like Sweida to justify further invasions and maintain oppression that oppresses the Middle East.
