Tehran – Iranian photographer Amilhossein Honalber has won an honorable mention of the image of a traditional Giving Shoemaker at work at Canada’s second fine shot photo salon.
The festival, held under the auspices of Federation International Dell Art Photography (FIAP), an international organization recognized by UNESCO, attracted photographers from more than 45 countries on Saturday, including Australia, China, the US, France, Italy, Germany and Brazil.
Honarubar, a staff member of Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, captured the master craftsman Craft Gib, a traditional Iranian lightweight shoe made from carpet thread and leather. His photographs highlight this centuries-old craft and showcase Iran’s unique cultural heritage to a global audience.
Giveh, also known as Kalash, is a breathable shoe that is traditionally worn by men from various Iranian regions, offering tribute to the lightness and ventilation that passes through small pores. Although it is usually white, Giveh is also produced in red, blue, orange and black variants, and can also be worn by women in the hot summer.
