TEHRAN – General Amir Kalamzadeh, of the Isfahan Cultural Heritage Division, has issued news regarding the launch of the operation to restore the Taj ul-Mork Dome at Isfahan James Mosque.

He explained that the repair operation would include strengthening and restoring the dome’s outer shell with credit worth 10 billion rials ($11,111), adding that given expectations, the operation is expected to be completed within two months.
The Taj-ul-Molk Dome holds a special position in the field of Islamic Iranian culture and art. The bricks and geometric decorations and motifs made from this dome are very artistic and beautiful, and have many value. This dome changes from a square shape to an octagon, then to a hexagon, and is built on top of the cylinder. Its dimensions are 10.5 meters in diameter and 19.5 meters in height.
The dome of Taj-ul-Molk contains two shells, the outer shell covered with beautiful bricks, which adds to the beauty and glory of the building. The dome has a historic inscription, with its construction date back to 481 AH/1101 AD, with its founder being featured as Tajul-Molk. Some archaeologists also believe the building could have been constructed as a tomb, canopy, fountain or library. However, none of these theories have been clearly confirmed.
The inscription on the dome of Taj-ul-Molk is written in a simple Kufic script and in bricks. The dome’s founders, Abu al-Ghanaim, Martzban bin Kosloo, Firoz Siraj (called Tajru Morku), highlights the date of construction at 481 AH. Also inside the Taj-ul-Molk dome, Raised Bricks, with poems by Surah Israel and Al-Imran, has other inscriptions in a simple Kufic script.
In general, the Taj ul Mork dome is considered a unique piece of Islamic Iranian art and cultural values, using artistic architecture and beautiful decorations, which is very appealing to visitors.
