Tehran – Mohsen Ziai of the Fars Cultural Heritage Department gave news of the beginning of organizing and restoring Hafez Spiritus, a historical and cultural place that 14th century Persian poets are placed to rest. He pointed out that the monument, known as Hafezieh, is considered one of Shiraz, Faz province and Iran’s most important attractions.
According to Isna, Hafezieh has registered the most tourists in the country in recent years, he added.
He also said that the organizing and restoring of Spirit US began with credit worth 18.5 billion rials ($20,555).
Ziaei continued to have been carrying out the moisture insulation of the roof on the west side of the tomb, brick paving on the roof, repair and repair of the brick parts of the bricks on the north side of the Spirit US, and repair and repair of the western tombs of the Spirit US, and implementation of local pavement stones in the necessary parts of the area.
He said the restoration work was carried out by contractual method and expected to be completed by the end of the month of Iran in Abang (November 21).
Ziaei explained that Hafezieh was associated with the Al-E Mozaffar era, adding that in December 1966 he was registered in the National Heritage List number 1009.
The Hafezieh site is set in an attractive orchard. Hafez’s tomb is surrounded by an octagonal dome supported by eight stone pillars. Inside the grave is an elaborate tilework.
Immered in a deep sense of humanity, Hafez’s poem reflects the scope of historical events, biographies and life details of his hometown Shiraz. He is most famous for his divan, and among many partial English translations of this work is by Gertrude Bell and H. Wilberforce Clark.
Celebrated as a heartland of Persian culture for over 2000 years, Shiraz has become synonymous with education, nightingale, poetry and craft skills passed down from generation to generation. It was one of the most important cities in the medieval Islamic world and was the capital of Iran during the Zand dynasty from 1751 to 1794.
