Tehran – Lieutenant Governor of Hamedan Mojtaba Hoseini has announced the news of the successful hosting of the state’s 3rd International Medical Tourism Conference (ECO) member state. He also said the Iranian medical tourism brand was proven by the well-known hosting of the Health Tourism Association (Conferences and Exhibitions) in Herdan.
According to Miras Arya (CHTN), he added that the event was held with the aim of introducing the medical capabilities and medical tourism of Hamedan, exchanging medical know-how and improving regional cooperation.
Evaluating support for media members, governors, executives and public participation, he added: “In a time when the country was engaged in a 12-day total war imposed by Israel, our country simultaneously managed the economic front and recorded success in hosting international events. This support deserves a special thanks.”
He pointed out that medical tourism is defined as one of the strategic axes of ECOs, adding that Hamedan held the event in the third round.
Hosseini called convenient air access as the main reason behind historical and cultural ancient times, medical infrastructure, specialized physicians, geopolitical circumstances, and choosing a Hadan to host events. With an emphasis on the respected governor, it has been decided that the state’s medical, tourism and economic potential will be introduced during the event, he added.
Officials continued that the event included two scientific and exhibited parts. In addition to the official inauguration ceremony attended by Eco’s Executive Director Assad Majid Khan and other guests, the specialized panel was held focusing on the role of environmental member states in medical tourism, the impact of technology and artificial intelligence, health startups, analysis of local situations, and the introduction of Hadan as a new medical tourism destination.
Other side programs included visiting the state’s International Patient Division (IPD) department, introducing medical capacity and identifying potential health tourism infrastructure.
Pointing to the final statement of the meeting, he said: “The establishment of the Hadhan-based Joint Medical Tourism Commission, the creation of a local digital platform, support research projects, expanding medical knowledge exchange, promoting educational cooperation, and the development of hydrotherapy are among the most important provisions of this 13 article statement.”
He said that medical tourism will generate income and promote economic development, “Connecting this event has been an effective step in establishing the health brand of Iran and Hadan at the regional level. And I would like to sincerely thank all participating medical sciences, especially the head of the Department of Cultural Heritage, cities and leaders of the management and planning organizations.”
The 3rd International Medical Tourism Association of ECO Member States was held in Hadan from June 11th to 13th.
Hadan, a qualities filled with equipped hospitals, complementary medicines and herbal plants, was chosen to host the event. And most importantly, Hadan is the birthplace of Avisenna, the great Persian physician and the most famous and influential philosopher and scientist of the medieval Islamic world.

Experts say medical tourism in Iran is a favorable opportunity for both the state and foreign patients as it offers affordable yet quality medical services and the country has earned considerable foreign currency.
The Islamic Republic is branded worldwide as an affordable destination for health and medical tourism.
