Hu Kong, China’s permanent representative to the UN, told UNSC session on Sunday that China is firmly opposed to Israel’s attempts to occupy Gaza.
“Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. It is an integral part of Palestinian territory. Actions that attempt to change demographics and territorial structure must be accompanied by maximum rejection and resistance,” he said.
“The illusion of military superiority must be abandoned… An immediate ceasefire is the only right way to save lives and ensure the release of hostages. Constant escalation of military crime in Gaza only leads to more killings and death,” Fu said.
“The Israeli government needs to listen to the causes of both the international community and its people, immediately stop the escalation of tensions and end the military operations in Gaza,” he said.
“Weaponization of humanitarian supplies is unacceptable. Collective punishment of the Gazan people is unacceptable. Attacking civilians and humanitarian workers when they are seeking surprise is equally unacceptable,” Hu said.
“It is important to reinvigorate the prospects for solutions for the two states. It is the only viable path to solving the Palestinian problem and achieving peaceful coexistence,” he concluded.
