Tehran – The fundamental restoration and change in the use of the historic Musa Crab building in Shahl Ebak, Karman province, is one of the priorities of the Kelman Cultural Heritage Department in order to develop tourism and economic prosperity in the region, says the caretaker of the Karman Cultural Heritage Department.
According to Irib, Morteza Nikru visited the building of Musa Khani and studied the restoration trends of this structure.
He said the first phase of the project as a catering unit has been launched. “The second phase is currently under implementation, including the establishment of accommodation in this historic building. We will soon witness the inauguration.”
Private sector cooperation in the project has played a key role in accelerating the recovery trend and inauguration of this historic complex, he said.
Nikul expressed hope that the project will help attract tourists and boost the economic prosperity of Sharl-Evac County.
He added that the project is being implemented to maintain and revive the cultural heritage and increase the tourism capacity of Carman State with good cooperation from industrial and mining companies, and will be tracked continuously until results are achieved.
The Musa Kani Mansion is one of the buildings of the Kajar era, built at 1265-1270 AH by Musa Khan, the son of Sheikh al-Morq. The mansion covers 2,300 square meters and its vast garden is approximately 5,200 square meters. This historic monument is one of the noble homes and the residence of the ruler of Shahr-e Babak city.
Shahr-e Babak is located west of Carman State, 1,845 meters above sea level. The county is limited to Yazd province from the north, Shirjan county from the south, Rafsanjan from the east, and Faz and Yazd provinces from the west. The climatic conditions at Shahr-e Babak Plain are semi-deterrent and moderate in mountainous areas. Shahr-e Babak County constitutes two districts named “Markazi”, “Dehaj”, “Khorsand”, “Shahr-e-Babak”, “Jowzam” and “Dehaj”.
Shahr-e Babak is one of the most important and historic cities of Karman province, as it embraced the historic village of Maymand, the Musakani building known as the Vallee Mansion, the ancient mosque of Shahr-ekone, and the Azarbag temple.
Shahr-e Babak enjoys a privileged economic and political position by sitting on the southwestern region of Tehran-Bandar Abbas transit road (golden road of Iran) and the communication road of Shiraz and Isfahan, passing the railway of Bafq-Bandar Abbas from this region and also having the great mines of copper, lead and zinc, silica, salt, turquoise, copper smelting plants, numerous stone cutting plants.
Shahr-e Babak’s major economy is based on gardening and livestock, as well as industry and mining. The people of Shahr-e Babak speak in Parsi in special and different dialects related to each region, such as Meymandi and Dehaji.
The religion of the people in this city is Islam, and they are followers of Jafari Shiites or Ismaelians. There are also minor groups of Sunni and Zoroastrians living in the area.
