Israeli media reports say plans are in place to “evacuate” Gaza residents within two months before the military operation expands.
Israeli Channel 12 said Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said in a recent closed debate that “the expected evacuation process for residents from Gaza city would take less than two months.
Zamir also said that once the stage is completed, “the surrounding Gaza city stage will enter and occupy it will be carried out.” He added that the military “will try to minimize the use of reserve forces as much as possible.”
The statement was previously reported by Channel 12 on the Israeli government holding consultations with at least five countries (Indonesia, Somaliland, Uganda, South Sudan and Libya) and taking Palestinians evacuated from Gaza.
The Associated Press also previously reported that Israel had discussed moving Palestinians to South Sudan.
Rights groups say Israel’s plans will earn a sum of money for forced displacement.
