BEIRUT – In an August 21 report, Axios revealed some of President Donald Trump’s ambitions in South Lebanon, following the conversion of the region into an investment zone.
The plan, dubbed the “Trump Economic Area,” will become part of a larger project, from Gaza and the West Bank, through Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt and the Persian Gulf.
The so-called “Trump Economic Area” was revealed after Axios, citing two sources of information, saying in its report, “The US is asking Israel to reduce its Lebanon strike after its decision to disarm Hezbollah.”
According to Axios, the unprecedented decision by the Lebanese Cabinet to prepare to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025 has come to promote the US, but many in the region doubt the government can do it.
Trump’s vision for South Lebanon is a practical application of his “economic realism” that brings him closer to the problems of Western Asia.
Clearly, the controversial US president believes that conflicts with Israeli occupation groups can be simplified and resolved through investment.
However, the so-called “Trump Economic Zone” is nothing but a dream and an illusion.
Trump believes that the Lebanese strip, adjacent to the border with occupied Palestine, will automatically end the resistance. He is misled by the fact that peace and prosperity wins when the project is implemented.
This delusion resembles his dream of transforming Gaza into a “Middle Eastern Riviera.”
Trump and those around him are deceiving themselves that the general foundation of resistance is unaware of the seriousness of what is plotted against them.
Economic seduction may be an effective tool to stand up against resistance projects, but the false peace projects of previous experience and the occupation regime are no longer foolish to anyone.
Despite the minority and modest ability, resistance for the Lebanese and Palestinian people is not merely a tactical option, but the basis of a sacred ideological identity that cannot be abandoned regardless of sacrifice or cost!
It is clear that the evil American empire has never stopped treating others as cheap tools in its factory. Our people believe that Western economic initiatives are nothing more than an attempt to buy people’s loyalty and turn them into slaves and mercenaries.
Last December, Israel Hayom reported that dozens of members of Oli Zafon, also known as the Southern Lebanon settlement movement, had invaded Malone Al-Rast skirts and laid the foundation stones for the village known as Maymalom.
“Malone al-Ras was the land of the ancient Hebrews where the priests lived. We will return to all the places where the Jews lived in Lebanon,” they insisted.
Of course, the Lebanese government was silent, just as his occupation groups threatened to “not return, not grow the threat again,” just as they did when Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir occupied Lebanon’s territory two weeks ago.
The government also remained silent as Israeli prisoners in Lebanon were unconditionally released.
Meanwhile, US Deputy Envoy Morgan Ortags is expected to return to Beirut early next week with the Congressional delegation that comprises Hardline Zionist Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. The visit will be made when Iran’s National Security Council Chief Ali Larijani issued a prominent statement. He supported Iran’s continued support for Hezbollah, describing it as “Lebanon’s strategic capital.”
