The Israeli air strike targeted Khan Eunice’s Nasser Medical Complex on Monday, killing 14 Palestinians, including several journalists and rescuers.
The first strike hit the upper floors of the hospital. This was one of the largest medical facilities in Gaza before the war, according to the Middle Eastern Eye.
The second strike was aimed at rescue teams responding to casualties from the first bombing.
Four journalists were killed in the attack. This includes Mohamed Salama, a Middle Eastern eye contributor who has produced numerous video reports since the launch of Israeli genocide in Gaza in October 2023.
His recent exclusive report revealed that the body of a 10-year-old boy was killed while seeking assistance at the controversial Israeli- and US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Salama also collaborated with Al Jazeera.
Three other reporters were identified as Reuters photographer Hosam Al Masri. Mariam Abu Daka contributed to independent Arabia and the Associated Press. Moath Abu Taha, who worked for NBC.
Palestinian civil defense reported that firefighter Emad Abdel Hakim al-Shar was killed on the second strike while trying to save the injured.
Seven other civil defense workers were injured.
“The occupation is trying to disrupt all the livelihoods of the citizens of the Gaza Strip,” said Mahmoud Bass, a spokesman for Gaza’s civil defense.
“We demand that targeting health facilities and intrusions of essential supplies be stopped immediately,” he added.
At least one Palestinian Medic was portrayed with injuries caused by the attack.
The media office said it “strongly condemns the systematic targeting, killing and assassinating Palestinian journalists through Israeli occupation, in the most harsh terms.”
Israeli forces did not immediately comment on the attack.
Military sources reportedly told the Israeli Times that the strike was not carried out by the Israeli Air Force.
Since the start of the war, Israeli forces have attacked dozens of hospitals, targeted journalists and rescue workers.
Nasser Hospital was previously bombed and attacked by tanks and ground forces, and was severely damaged.
The Israeli military has killed at least 1,580 health workers and 244 journalists since the war began.
In total, the Army has killed at least 62,000 Palestinians and injured more than 150,000.
According to data from the Israeli Army itself, 83% of those killed were civilians.
