Microsoft has rejected four employees who participated in workplace protests over the tech giant’s contract with Israel amid the ongoing war with Gaza.
Anna Huttle and Riki Fameli were among those arrested after a sit-in in President Brad Smith’s office. Both received voicemail notifications of the end, according to activist group Apartheid’s azure. The group said two other people (Nisleen Jaladat and Juliusshan) were also fired after joining a protest camp at Microsoft’s headquarters.
Protesters accused Israeli military operations of enabling Israeli military operations through Azure Cloud, citing a joint investigation that found the platform used to store popular phone data from Palestinians. Rights groups are denounced corporate ties with Israel as Gaza’s humanitarian crisis deepens.
