More than 150 current and former elected officials around the world have issued “A Call for Immediate Action to Ensure Humanitarian Access to Gaza and End the Palestinian Genocide.”
In a joint statement, they urged the government to open a “safe and continuous humanitarian corridor” as “moral, legal and humanitarian orders.”
The appeal also calls for the full protection of the global Sumud Flotilla, known as a legal and peaceful mission that provides assistance and solidarity to Gaza.
The signatories emphasized that “the mission must not be hampered or put in danger.” Citing international humanitarian law, they warned that starvation as a weapon was violating the Geneva Convention, reaffirming that “every occupation is illegal under international law.” They concluded: “History judges us by the actions we take to protect human lives.”
