TEHRAN – Iran is considering importing tourist vehicles from China and drafting a joint roadmap to strengthen the sector’s transportation infrastructure, the head of Iran’s tour and auto club said on Thursday.
Mohammad Hossein Sufi, managing director of Iran’s tour and car clubs, announced during his visit to Guangzhou Export and Import Centre (China Import Export Pazoo Complex), CHTN reported on Thursday.
The Sufis said the initiative aims to mark a new phase of international cooperation in tourism and address infrastructure gaps while supporting Iran’s seventh national development plan.
“One of the requirements to strengthen Iran’s tourism industry is to develop a specialized transport fleet. By importing high-quality vehicles to meet tourism needs, we will act as the enforcement department of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts,” he cited.
Guangzhou Centre, a major hub for vehicle exports to markets in Africa, South America and West Asia, has consulted with Iranian delegations to select vehicles suitable for Iran’s tourism sector and adapt to cultural and climatic conditions.
The Guangzhou Centre manager welcomed the partnership and said that limited pilot exports of tourist vehicles to Iran can begin valuing the market, in accordance with the formal order. They added that a comprehensive proposal will be submitted outlining the framework for future cooperation.
At the end of the visit, the Sufis invited managers from Guangzhou to attend an Iranian specialist exhibition on tourism, campers and caravans.
