Tehran – committing genocide in Gaza for 23 months, especially with Western support from the US, killing many top Hamas leaders in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran, and eventually attempting to assassinate Hamas’ chief negotiator, Doha’s Khalil Al-Khaiyah.
Hamas’ attacks on Israel in October 2023 served as an excuse to encourage Israeli moves to realize the vision of regional hegemony. Israel raided the Hamas office while Hamas team met in Doha to evaluate the US ceasefire plan for Gaza and prisoners exchange. The attacks on Hamas leaders clearly prove that Israel does not seek peace. Rather, it pursues domination in the region.
The attack on Qatar’s capital, which has hosted dialogue between Israel and Hamas delegations to end the Gaza conflict, has been remarkable and surprising. Qatar, a close US ally that hosts the largest US air force base in the Persian Gulf, has been targeted despite its role as a mediator. Instead of being rewarded by holding peace talks, Qatar’s capital was attacked by Israeli fighters.
Israel gained courage after killing Hamas leader Ismaril Haniya in Tehran.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly speaks about changing the map of the Middle East and is confident that he has insisted on his spiritual mission to establish a “great Israel” that includes parts of Arab land.
These genocide attacks in Gaza, widening settlements in the West Bank, attacks on Lebanon, and recent airstrikes in Doha are being carried out with Washington’s approval. To turn Israel into a regional hegemon, the US has allowed an attack on Doha, violating the sovereignty of its close allies in the Persian Gulf. It is wrong to hear President Donald Trump be informed that the Israeli Jets were on the way while Israel attacked Hamas headquarters in Doha.
Even the 12-day war between Israel and the US in June fit into plans to establish Israel as a regional hegemon. Netanyahu sees it as a great opportunity to assert Trump in the White House for control. Trump’s first-term policies, such as moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and recognizing the occupied Golan Heights as Israel’s territory, laid the foundation for this vision.
Even today, the country remains vulnerable to Israeli attacks as Bashar Assad’s government collapsed in Syria and Mohammad al-Shaar has taken over and expressed his willingness to establish ties with Israel.
The region is currently facing a bitter reality. The country must either remain passive in the face of Israeli military action or actively resist this occupation regime.
Muslims and Arab countries must unite against Israel’s expansionist movement. Or the Arab capitals do not remain safe. Countering this threat may require a coordinated front that includes consideration of oil and gas embargoes to the West.
